NLP BY ANY OTHER NAME

In my interview with NLP guru Michael Watson last Thursday on - www.ThinkUPshow.com - Michael mentioned some of the other names that have spun off from the original Neuro Linguistic Programming which was created in the 1970's by John Grinder and Richard Bandler.  The same is true about Hypnosis, which has been called many other things throughout history.  Just the other day in a Self-Hypnosis training at the UP Hypnosis Institute, I took the attendees through a hypnotic process and when we finished one of the students said, "So, it's like visualization."  Well....yes, it IS visualizing, imagining, day-dreaming, or you may even say....pretending.  Does the word "placebo" apply?  We know that if you "believe" that something is happening, the body will release chemicals and hormones and substances with long names into the system and we will have a response.  Likewise, if we are really good at "pretending" that we believe something is happening, like I used to do when I was acting a part in a play or film, the body will also respond according to what is being imagined.

So, imagine what it would be like to pretend that you're happy and healthy and wealthy and wise.  As a matter of fact, let your mind create the YOU that you would like to be, and then simply pretend that you believe this is the real YOU, and visualize this YOU doing things you want to do and accomplishing all of the goals you have set for yourself.  If you do this for a month, I have a strong belief that YOU will be very different one month from now and I have a strong feeling that YOU will surprise your SELF - and I wonder what NAME will best describe the NEW YOU!
